Lovely Complex - just hilarious it knew how to have drama, mixed with some hilarious comedy.

Kimikiss Pure Pogue - 2 couples, each had love triangles, comedy and light-hearted, a must see lol

DN angel - I went into this thinking it would be an awesome theif anime, and I thought romance in an anime would be stupid. The romantic elements kicked in and I was hooked.

I'd like to think that Rumbling Hearts is a pretty good romance anime, though it can also be classed as a drama, but then there's also Shuffle which I enjoyed and a lot of other really good romance anime. Rumbling Hearts was the most recent I've seen I think, hmm, yep ^.^

I personily think the best romancce anime series was black blood brothers, the whole getting your blood sucked, feeling 10times better then sex thing was awsome, addition to the romance

Inyuasha was good, but kagome and inuyasha were said to be going out in the series, but it didint seem like they were going out at all

samuri champloo had a great balance between mogan, and the other two, but i dont think that it would be consiterd a romantic

Exactly, Air probably has to be one of the worst animes i ever seen... it has horrible character development, the story line is trash, it doesnt explain ANYTHING, and the animation is low grade..

Oh,, and Clannad is much better than Kanon.. Half way through Kanon you dont even feel any emotion.. like who cares that some chick is actualy a fox and that he loves her? That never happens its kind of... idiotic, what is this Fruit Baskets?

and almost everything in Clannad is possible and really grips you... yes i know you can live 5 years into the future and then come back. but you can loose your financial stability, you can loose poeple you love, many peoples parents are... choice? so yeah, Clannad gives you insight into how powerfully sad and unexpected real life can be.. and how unaware you are during adolecence.. it really makes you wonder!

I guess I would have to say Fushigi Yuugi and Fruits Basket, both made me cry at least once during the series, whether it was happy or sad tears.

CLANNAD is a good anime, but not in its romantic aspect. It's more of its tragedy that makes it good.

If you think about it, there were only 3 arcs in the original CLANNAD anime: Fuuko's, Kotomi's, and Nagisa's. Kanon had Makoto, Mai, Shiori, partially Nayuki, and Ayu, which were all tragic. Thus, I don't think that CLANNAD is much better than Kanon; I consider them at least on the same level. After Story had rushed arcs, so it wasn't up to it full potential. I do think Nagisa's After Story was portrayed well though.

Anyway, I don't think that either of them are good in terms of romance. For romance, I prefer... D.N. Angel, ef - a tale of memories, Toradora!, sola, and True Tears. Love Hina (preferably the manga), Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, and Ouran High School Host Club are OK.

Air has equal if not better Animation than Clannad. It is beyond me how you can say otherwise. The animation was done by the same company and if you look at reviews for Air they always talk about the amazing visuals. To say Air has low grade animation is to say Kanon and Clannad have low grade animation as well. Please if your going to say something at least have some basis for it.

The only thing you said that makes any sense is that it doesn't have as much Character development as Kanon and Clannad do which is because it is only 13 episodes long. Why do you think Kanon 2006 (24 episodes) was so much more popular than the Kanon 2002 (13 episodes)? Besides that the animation is much better in the remake, it didn't have as much time to go through everything.

Also as for the storyline not making any sense and them not explaining anything is completely false. I completely understand the storyline and there is a reason for everything that happens. They explain everything although some parts vaguely.

If you do not like Supernatural anime you should not have watched any of Visual Art's/Keys works. All three of them Air, Kanon, and Clannad are completely based on supernatural events. And don't compare Kanon to Fruit Basket, its completely different in every possible way.

As for Clannad being based on more believable things is not accurate at all either. One, there is a ghost right in the begining of the girl in a coma called Fuuka. There are "Hiden Worlds" which are basically other dimensions. Nagisa's life was saved as a child due to the town saving her. As the town changes she becomes more sick. All three animes make you think about how horrible it is to lose loved ones. They all talk about how cruel and sad life can be. The only difference with Clannad is its more based on Growing up and becoming an adult. Its the theme, especially in After Story.

The way you talk about Kanon and Air makes me feel like you didn't even see them. Its almost like your talking about two different animes. Sorry for the gigantic post but I hate it when people say things with no knowledge behind it. I am in no way trying to insult you, I am just stating obvious things.

Well, i was talking about Kanon 02. i just watched 06 and yeh. it is much better then i thought. But i still wasnt very fond of Air and Kanon animation because of thje eye placement. And also, the only thing i found bad about Kanon is how quickly the main character could give a ****. He talked about how he loved Makoto so much.. then likw 2 weeks later he doesnt even seem to remember.. i think that is a bit hastey. Like with Clannad i know 5 years is too much.. but atleast Tomoya shows he truley loved Nagisa. And another thing is everything in Kanon is death.. Makoto dies, Mai tries to commit suicide, and even Shiori was said to have a few more days to live... i think the sadness could have been editied.

Such as in Clannad; Ryou and Kyou both loved Tomoya so neither could have him,
Fuuko(yes it is supernatural, i apologize) was in a coma but still trying to help her sister.. and everyone started to forget her and that made them all sad.
Kotomi was like mentally insane at one point because of her parents and how Tomoya forgot her.. she went crazy
Mei, her brother didnt care about her so she was sad and was even taken advantage by the soccer team so that theyd let him join
Tomoyo Loved Okazaki alot also, but was willing to her herself and give him up because Nagisa was a nice person
Nagisa, had an illness that threatened her life many times, she even died giving birth which hurt everyone,
Tomoya and his father, tomoya hated his father for what he did, then he came to seee how much his dad did for him, and that made him feel horrible for treating his own father that way,
and last but not least Ushio... she was ignored by her father and shunned by him for 5 years because he didnt want to agknowledge Nagisas death... IMO Clannad was just more intricate i guess. but thats just me

the one romance anime that definitly stood out from the rest for me, and was the first romance anime i watched was Elfen Lied. Never going to forget that one. ...prolly more of a action/drama but definitly romance in it..even tho a bit of the romance was...shall we say...WTF?

well i loved Tenchi Muyo (although it didnt really have an ending), Tenchi in tokyo, Tenchi Universe and Ah My Goddess are probs my faveourite.

Yea thats a lot of Tenchi but it was my first ever Romance/Harum anime (also one of my first anime shows lol) so they hold a special place in my heart.

Favorite Romance Harem: Kanon
Favorite Romance in General: Eureka Seven.

It shows the basis of a relationship in Eureka Seven from an unrequited love all the way to true love. Now some say that Eureka Seven is a mecha anime, and nothing more, however I can confidantly say that that is not the case, the character development in Eureka Seven is equal if not more a part of the storyline than the action/mecha. The graphics are pretty good to excellent at times. The soundtrack is superb.

The BEST ANIME OF ALL TIME AND MOST ROMANTIC is, without any doubt at all, Romeo X Juliet. That's where my username came from, it's where my icon came from, it's where my favorite variation of my actual name came from. (Though the character with said name annoying...not! She's hilarious. Ah, Emilia...) It's the most romantic thing anyone will ever see, and if you don't watch it, then you don't know what a romance anime truly is! So WATCH IT!

Before you do, though, let me tell you: it does NOT follow the original Shakespeare storyline. Juliet and Romeo are the same age, nothing gets inappropriate (he falls on top of her once by accident, but he was trying to save her life! It's just dramatic effect, people!), the Montagues rule the city after Romeo's father killed every Capulet except for Juliet (who escaped and is now a wanted fugitive, though she doesn't remember the night her family died), and, best of all, Juliet can totally kick butt. xDDDDDDD No. I'm dead serious. She just has issues with actually killing people, but I think it's just trauma from watching her father die when she was two.

Anyway, it is seriously the best anime ever. Go watch it! NOW!

Romeo & Juliet is a good romance anime but not the best in my opinion, but i liked it more than the actual movies of romeo & juliet.

Cross Over - Basically Suzuka with less romance and more emphasis on basketball. Still romance though but the ending was sort of rushed I guess. Not a bad ending though, just didn't seem like it was over.

Half and Half - Awesome one shot.

Kimi no Iru Machi - His newest and possibly best manga so far. I still think Suzuka is best but this rivals it for sure. Not finished yet.

Love Letter - Short manga but good nonetheless.

He has two others called W's and Princess Lucia but they are both either not finished or not translated.

I don't think this person watches subs, most people who are newer to anime don't. But yes if you watch subs by all means watch Clannad as well. Its also one of my favorites. Like I said before, Key anime are top notch.

Yeah but it's not as good in all aspects. I have not personally seen it but it was not close to as popular.

Kanon is one of my favorite animes. Makotas arc is one of the saddest things I have ever seen. I don't even think I need to argue for it because anyone who has seen it will agree. If you do not like Supernatural anime you should not have watched any of Visual Art's/Keys works. All three of them Air, Kanon, and Clannad are completely based on supernatural events. And don't compare Kanon to Fruit Basket, its completely different in every possible way.

As for Clannad being based on more believable things is not accurate at all either. One, there is a ghost right in the begining of the girl in a coma called Fuuka. There are "Hiden Worlds" which are basically other dimensions. Nagisa's life was saved as a child due to the town saving her. As the town changes she becomes more sick. All three animes make you think about how horrible it is to lose loved ones. They all talk about how cruel and sad life can be. The only difference with Clannad is its more based on Growing up and becoming an adult. Its the theme, especially in After Story.

The way you talk about Kanon and Air makes me feel like you didn't even see them. Its almost like your talking about two different animes. Sorry for the gigantic post but I hate it when people say things with no knowledge behind it. I am in no way trying to insult you, I am just stating obvious things.

I love how this includes romance, but not in the harem comedy sense, and not in the shojo girly sense either. Plus, it's not set in a modern high school, and they're both adults.

I agree that Clannad, Air, and Kanon are all good, my only problem is I don't like sad endings, or long sad parts.
I tried watching Love Hina, but I couldn't finish it. The manga was significantly better in my opinion.

I read Kimi No Iru Machi a while ago and got to the point where it wasnt scanalated anymore. Its too early for me to say it's better or worse than Suzuka but its definitely really good so far. I think I'm going to wait for it to be fully scanalated though before picking it back up.

lol normally I dont watch romance stuff unless its on tv and im channel surfing. But Rumbleing Hearts was cool I though and I downloaded it on whim from xbox market place.My friend laughed at me when I told them about it lol . They weren't into anime so as you can imagine the jokes didn't stop for a while but damn I was hooked on it real bad and that is the only pure romance anime I've seen to do that to me.

Obviously most anime can fit into more than one genre. I would say Eureka 7 is both a mecha and romance anime.

For a thread like this I'd sooner look at shows that have Romance as a main theme, which Eureka Seven does not. Eureka Seven is a mecha/action before it's a romance. The series, at least. The movie has a lot more romance elements to it.

But of course, I don't make the rules. That's just my two cents.

I'd like to think that Rumbling Hearts is a pretty good romance anime, though it can also be classed as a drama, but then there's also Shuffle which I enjoyed and a lot of other really good romance anime. Rumbling Hearts was the most recent I've seen I think, hmm, yep ^.^

Rumbling Hearts made me cry sadly....Whoever wrote that anime must be one of those bad *** gay guys like Neil Patrick Harris.
