I think the best anime Magic user has to be Lina Inverse hands down.

Actually, I change my mind. Kishua Zelretch Schweinorg (http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Kishua_Zelretch_Schweinorg) from the Nasuverse (world where Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime aka Lunar Legend take place) is the strongest in my opinion. He is capable of True Magic, or in essence, miracles. Also, he managed to kill the Crimson Moon, who was pretty much substituting for the place of Type-Earth (aka the strongest being of a planet; Type-Mercury, Type-Saturn, etc).

Also, one of his weapons was able to take on Dark Sakura, whose mana supply was literally limitless.

eah, Lina's dragon slave is pretty powerfull.
Im not really sure if its more powerful than Nanoha's Excellion Buster though. I guess I'll go with Nanoha, since I haven't seen enough eps of Slayers ot accurately judge lina's power
Actually, in StrikerS, they say that Yagami Hayate is stronger than Nanoha because Nanoha is like SS Rank or something while Hayate is SSS.

You should freaking see her Hraesvelgr. Here's a video for it. Watch up to about 1:00 or something.

Yeah, I remembered Hraesvelgr, and the fact that Hayate was SSS, while nanoha was SS (I think), but Nanoha's final excellion buster was more impressive to me (The one that blew right through the ark). I guess I was thinking that Hayate's was more AOE, while Nanoha's Excellion buster was more of a blast of concentrated power (and Nanoha seems to have overpowered attacks in general). I might be biased though, because I think Hayate played a better role as "helpless parapalegic" than "SSS Mage"... Er, kinda off topic, but since I'm talking nanoha, anyone know if Nanoha Force or Nanoha ViVid will be made into an anime?

Yeah, but there's no example of Nagi's super awesome abilities, so no one would believe me >_>.

Also, I was also pretty biased and wanted to believe that Nanoha was stronger than Hayate. However, with no proof to back it up, I'd just have to agree that Hayate is stronger.

lightning dark form negi springfield is total win in my magic book XD i mean ...the guy IS lightning ...tho jack ranken is jsut as cool...if not better but he aint in negima!?'s anime so cant rly say him>.<

If alucards powers r classed as magic (like his realese form and zero lvl) then hes by far the strongest...i mean the guys practically immortal, and can summon a armry like like a million dead knights.

Rider of Fate/Zero (Alexander the Great) can use Ionioi Hetairoi, a Noble Phantasm that summons a giant army of low Servant class soldiers. Gilgamesh's Enuma Elish kills half of the army directly. This says that Servants of Fate/Stay Night have the power to destroy entire armies.

Arcueid Blunestud is described to be several times stronger than Servants and almost invincible during a full moon; she can also use a Marble Phantasm, an area that allows her to realize anything that has a chance to occur. Here's a good analogy:

(Type-Moon Wiki) "When drawing a marble in a bag of black marbles with a 1% chance of drawing the one white marble, Marble Phantasm is the ability to raise that chance to 100% and definitely pick the white one amongst all the black ones; this remains within the laws of the world. "

So, Arcueid is pretty much a copy of the Crimson Moon. Zelretch killed the Crimson Moon, so Zelretch is stronger than anyone previously mentioned.

Some of his known abilities (since he's a character not often referenced) are the ability to drain mana from other worlds, the ability to move from world to world, and the ability to transfer knowledge from an alternate version of oneself. Assassin's Tsubame Gaeshi is considered to use a similar property used by the Second Magic, and it can do 3 consecutive strikes literally at once, which makes it undodgeable once in range.

He also became a freaking vampire lol.

In the Tsubasa Chronicle manga, they explain the depth of Fai's power, saying that he's probably stronger than even Yuuko.

Also, when I said "everyone previously mentioned," I referred to who I mentioned xD. You said that Alucard could summon an army, so I said Zelretch is stronger than someone who could summon one as well. Anyway, Arcueid (who is theoretically weaker than Zelretch) could beat a guy down to only his ankles remaining; not sure if he could reform from that lol. I don't really know Alucard's powers, so I can't say much.

I haven't watched many magical animes so I'm pulling this rabbit out of the hat that I currently have seen so far.

My choice would be Kazuma from Kaze No Stigma. I love the wind magic that he uses, I love the personality that he has, and I also love how he is able to control the wind. SO yeah, Kazuma would be the magic user I liked the most so far from what I've seen.

Actually, Negi learns Chinese martial arts from Ku Fei and has a fighting style that has his magic augment his attacks. He has the ability to absorb lightning magic and become pretty much a bit like lightning, not being injured by physical attacks and moving at the speed of light.

Actually, I don't think Naruto was able to make a Rasengan the size Jiraiya made in Sage Mode, and his Oodama Rasengan is less than a foot in circumference. If you think about it, Naruto has no redeeming qualities in his fighting style, only that he has a strong attack that can only hit in point blank range and has clones that are like those servant bad guys that fall easily to a hero.

and that is what makes him so great! hes not particularly skilled in taijutsu or ninjutsu and he has never used genjutsu yet hes able to take down such strong adversaries (for example, Neji and Nagato) I mean Naruto cant manipulate lightning and fire like that a**hole sasuke but i believe naruto can still kick that revenge drunken emo b*****d anyday.

Naruto mainly overpowered Neji with taijutsu that was enhanced with chakra. Pain was defeated by using his clones and individually taking out the bodies, which only have one function each. If his enemies were smart enough, they wouldn't get close to him or let him get close to use Rasengan. I honestly think that Sasuke could beat Naruto at his current state, especially since Naruto isn't quick enough to dodge Amaterasu or have the ability to dodge Tsukuyomi. Sasuke's Sharingan can also help him avoid the Rasenshuriken.

I read the wiki, and it only said she could destroy the world :P.

Plus, different dimensions have different existences, so she'd just be killing herself since Zelretch can move to different existences.

Also, it seems that Lina hasn't had a case where she controlled the spell by herself without the aid of secondary items. The spell seems to have a long chant as well, and only an idiot would allow her to cast something like that. Noting that Tohsaka Rin, a descendent of a pupil Zelretch taught, can use single action or single/double verses for most spells, it wouldn't be a surprise if Zelretch could use most spells with only single verses or double for more complex ones.

Power isn't everything in battle, after all.
