So I've finished watching chobits, great series really, liked the happy ending!
One thing I didn't get though is that there are 24 episodes on justdubs while anime-planet says it has 26. When I look up 25 on the internet and watch it, it's number 23 of what we've got on JD and 26 is 24 so my question is: Where do we miss 2 episodes?

they must have cut out the flashback episodes... ok not really a flashback more like a review or summary of the past episodes..

So in the original series 23 and 24 would be the summary episodes and 25 and 26 the last ones?

Yeah so really you didnt miss anything I really hate recap episodes because you end up watching them just incase something new happens in them. The OVA is really funny tho.
So guys do you think his choice was acceptable?
Ive heard alot of people dont like the series just because he chooses the robot

It's a sweet anime, but sometimes it feels too sweet. Artificially sweet. Like, literally. I mean, even after all the emphasis to sympathize for the humans who have fallen for persocoms, in the end it's still a taboo to most of us.
The opening song is addictive though.

Yeah but I think what it was trying to say was that love conquers all, and I now how cheesy that sounds but what ever :/.

I thought the message was love can take alot of forms and you should just follow your heart even if the one you love isn't human. Especially if she looks like a really cute chick.:laughing2dw:

I have a hard time accepting it. Its a robot/android after all. I don't care what anybody says it's not alive, therefore it has no real emotions. I guess he can actually fall in love with it but for the people that argue it fell in love with him too are wrong.
Overall I thought chobits was ok, nothing special at all though for me.

Your forgeting one important detail. IT'S AN ANIME!!! In anime robots like Chi for example can have real emotions and fall in love. The whole point of the series was how the Persicoms were more than just machines. Sure in the real world robots will probably never have real emotions but they can in anime.

Whether or not the persocoms were "more than just machines", the fact still remains that at the core of their existence, they weren't LIVING creatures.

So would you have accepted it if she was an alien instead? Would that still be ok for you?

An alien is a living being, so yes.

But your missing the point. The anime wasn't saying Chi was alive it was saying she could love just like people could. Remember the anime stated that persocoms were different from humans. that was made clear during the series. Remember this is an anime so laws of the real world are invalid. In anime machines can love humans if the creators want them to and in this anime they did want them to.

I think he did a great choice, really, there are people who marry a character in a ds game, why wouldn't you marry a android? I certainly would if I fell in love with it.

Creators want to do lots of things, but that doesn't mean squat if the audience doesn't buy it.

Well that's just an opinion. If you don't like the idea that's your thing. But still the fact remains that Chi was in love with Hideki. you may have found it hard to tell because she's not very good with conversation but her falling in love with him and him with her was one of the main points of the series. She even said at the end of the series that she was in love with him.

Well he could have tried looking for another girl if he wanted. Jsut because a robot girl loves you doesn't mean you have to love her back. you could turn her down just like a normal girl. Unless she has super strengh or hidden weapons inside her body. Then your choices are to date the dangerous robot girl or die.:laughing2dw:

I have had this argument on this forum before a while ago so I didn't really feel like doing it again, but here we go. It is a machine, it doesn't feel anything. It can simulate emotions because that is what it was designed to do. How can you say it is a fact that Chi was in love with Hideki? That makes absolutely no sense at all, obviously it's an anime so anything is possible right? Wrong, it just makes him a weirdo who dates a robot.

Are you trying to make a point of something? Since asking these random questions isn't doing much for me. I have never seen an alien before so I don't know if one can live without emotions. I really doubt any complex being thats able to come to our planet would have not developed any kind of emotions though, that wouldn't make much sense. Since even less complex animals like dogs or something can have emotions.

Do you have something against machines? It's an anime and in anime machines can do more than simulate emotions. Does it makes sense? NO. But since when has making sense ever been a problem for anime? I can give you and endless number of times when anime made even less sense. It's only anime it's not meant to be taken so seriously and be judged by the rules of reality. In the anime Chobits machines have become advanced enough to the point that they can have feeling and decide for themselves. There were even two persocoms in love at the end. You can say it's impossible and it makes no sense all you want but it doesn't change the fact that this is how this anime turned out. There were several moments in the series that Chi as well as a couple other persocoms did thing that machines shouldn't have been able to do. She even said with her own words she loved him. It's not supposed to be really possible. I mean in reality could a machine shaped like a human suddenly start glowing and suddenly gain the power to control cables for no apparent reason and be able to jam every persocoms in the city?

Okay, okay, we're all aware of the whole "anime-world physics don't apply" rules and such. It is, after all, a fictional story where anything is possible and anything can take place. Yes, we know that, and we all agree on that.
But I still must say, the storyline was a little silly. I tried to enjoy it from a humorous point of view only, because I found the relationships just a bit of a stretch from reality. I KNOW it's an anime series, so all is up for grabs, but I'm comparing this to situations in the real world.
Yes, the CHOBITS series were designed superb to the generic persacom, given the ability to develop emotions and create feelings, and based off of these perceptions are able to make decisions and act of their own free will. (I personally think that would be a terrible thing to do to a machine, give it the ability to perceive things like feelings. Due to it being a machine, it can never attain the same status as a living being..).
But I realize I'm going off track. My original point is that Chii develops these feelings because she's designed to. If she had been any normal humanoid computer, that would have never happened. Perhaps Hideki wouldn't have developed his own feelings towards her without her own pressure onto him. Her extreme attachment and enthusiastic adoration were constant additions to him falling in love. She is still a machine, something incapable of specific human things, no matter how "advanced" she is or becomes.
Of course, all the relationships in the series were a bit over-the-top, in my opinion. I mean, if Shinbo's attraction to his teacher wasn't enough, then the baker actually full-out marrying a persacom, and then falling in love with a highschool teenager afterwards was slightly uncomfortable.

Since its an anime, I have accepted that mix, persocon X human. But if it happened in real life, then that's the time i'm gonna hate it.

Agreed!
but the thing i kinda made me angry in the end was about the creator of that persocons. If his real intentions was invent a robot that can aid us in our daily task, then he should have made it less-human looking. But instead he chose to make it look human, which suggest he did that for another purpose other than helping us in our chores X_X either that or he's a pervert.

'Doing much for me' xD Im not trying to do anything, and ofcourse you havent seen an alien before xD. My point is that if you are in love with something even if it is capable of no emotion then you should love it weird or not.

I think that was the point of the anime. Besides chobits did have emotions. In a way the idea makes sense since the human brain is like one big fleshy computer. So it's not such a crazy idea to say a robot could have an electronic brain that can have human emotion. I'm not saying it's possible in reality but it can be done in an anime and if they have emotions they aren't just robots so it makes more sense that he would fall in love with Chi. Weirder romances have happened in anime.
