Life Size Gundam Statue

The 1/1-scale, 18-meter-tall statue of the title robot from the Gundam anime franchise was unveiled on Friday at its new home in central Japanese city of Shizuoka. The statue will be officially open to the public from Saturday, July 24, 2010 to January 10, 2011.

Unlike when it stood in Tokyo's Odaiba Island, the statue now has a beam saber in its right hand. The Gundam now stands in front of Japan Railway's Higashi-Shizuoka Station.

I will admit, I find this something unneccesary to build, but I won't deny that I think it's very cool. They even had appropriate music to fit the background and fireworks display.

I remember when it first went up in it's original. The night shots of it are pretty sweet. Wish I had a glow in the dark Gundam.

see somin like that could neva be made in england, after a week it'd be half stolen and covered in spray paint. Ud see some guy drivin a old vauxhall nove with a giant gunadam head taped to the roof XD

Ha dude thats nothing. Come to america and there are so many thieves you'ld see a guy with like 2million dollars and then he'ld be running around with the finger in his back pocket and his brother would have toe you see graffitii on it so much that it would look more like a bad painting than a statue and some dudes running around with the sword fighting over who is gonna carry it lol. (I hate the ghetto.)
